I did a handlebar job a month or so ago. Lovem. Got to take a test drive yesterday. Lovemore. When I pullered her back in the shop, I remembered to check to see if it would still start in gear. It did, but upon the engine firing up, you could initially feel the bike wanting to move forward, but a blip of the throttle, it would stop. Do I need to tighten (lengthen) my cable adjustment, or loosen (shorten) the cable sleeve? To lazy to try both, lol. Thanx!
stop being lazy and do it right. you need to adjust it at both locations, the cable adjustment, and under the derby cover. only then can you be sure that it is done correctly.
Weeeell, It WAS fine before the mod, SO, it can be fine again after the mod. It was loosened (shorter) to get the bars off. I'm gonna say it needs tightened (cable sleeve enlongated). It funny, I even took extra care in measuring the adjuster with my caliper to get it super close when I reinstalled the new lever. Checking for Freeplay there too.
I'm a lil OCD, and may do it your way (thanx alot), but idk. it IS winter. I gotta think that the adjuster in the cable is there for minor adjustments such as THIS!😁
Weeeell, whether it was fine or not, it doesn't hurt to do it the right way. when i had a cable clutched bike, i would do a clutch adjustment at every 5k engine/primary oil change. it's easy enough to do, and i swear, it made the bike feel like a new bike every time.
(come on, if you're as ocd as i am, then you know it'll bug the snot out of you unless you do it completely anyway, and like you say, it is winter, so.....)
Does your Android manual also cover CLUTCH REPLACEMENT? Stay lazy, and that is almost guaranteed in your future.
Im sure it does. It's the actual service model in PDF that I downloaded for free for now. I'll get one. The PDF is just a tad harder to maneuver, especially if yur lazy. Lmfao. I'm not a lazy person, just thought logically:
It was fine
Did bars, lever, grip mod
Not fine now?
Hmmm...must not of gotten the adjustor exactly where it WAS, or maybe even a ever so slight variation on the new lever, or even the diameter of the meatier Avon memory grips? Ah, that's it!
Ready to gimmeabreak yet? Lol....
