Planning a trip over the Ozarks in northern Arkansas, would like to ride the Jasper/Eureka Springs/Harrison area. So a couple questions for those that have been there:
1) Some good places to stay, looking for a small motel type place that is Bike friendly (would expect in that area most places would be), not really interested in a chain hotel. Something comfortable that we can park the bikes right outside the rooms.
2) There are a ton of rides listed on the Ozarkrides.com site, way too many for us to do in 4 days, so what are some of the "must" do rides.
Say hi to Marty Byrd for me at the Blue Cat!
Joke. Wife is watching Ozark for the first time, 3rd time for me.
Have a friend that rode up there, don't know where he stayed but he said the riding was great
The first time we went we stayed at the best western of the ozarks, the second time we rented a condo. We did the pig trail which was pretty cool. The Harley store in eureka springs has maps of a bunch of different rides. Can pick the ones that look good to you and ride. The second time we also took a ride to spavinaw Oklahoma and had some of the best barbecue I have ever had, believe the place was called Bradfords. We didn't find a bad road down there, can't remember them all either.
Check out War Eagle Mill, small little place but kinda neat seeing a mill still grinding with the water from the river. Rogers has the Walmart museum and the daisy bee bee gun museum also, both neat if your into that kinda thing.
+++ on the War Eagle Mill, cool place.
Rock House road, south out of Eureka Springs. Pick up some maps from the rest areas. They have motorcycle tour guides. If you request the maps online itll take months to get them from the tourism department.
I've stayed at the Econolodge in Eureka several times over recent years. they have another building out back that's further away from the highway where it is quieter. 479.253.9501. Not to worry much if they don't answer the phone, but they may call you back. the place isn't run down and is centrally located just east of the Hwy 23 and 62. The Filling Station, just east of the hotel is about the single best place to eat breakfast. I also stayed at "The Lodge" just east and around the curve recently, and it was nice quiet and clean. Ask for a room on the back side for that secluded feel. Their phone number is 479.363.9700. Prices are all decent in the area due to massive competition for customers. Any and everywhere is a good ride in these parts.
