I agree, loud pipes and loud horns save lives. I think also that unique sounding horns may fit into that category, I am thinking about putting an OOGAH horn on my ultra, that should turn a few heads and get a few WTF's.
Here's a link to the horn I have on my Ultra. It is a LOUD SOB!
This company also shows up at the large rallies like Daytona at Destination Daytona. http://www.thepropad.com/c-3-air-horns.aspx
this is a no branier...go with the Stebel Compact Nautilis as listed above in the eBay link...$45 and it provides 140 Decibel........will fit easily inside the fairing if you want to hide it and still make your ears bleed.....simple install and just plain works. Don't waste any effort or time on any other horn this unit is the bomb!
Have one of the air horns from metal arts on my RKC; like the look, wanted something different than howard's horns: (pic is from their site, not my bike) http://www.metalartsinc.com/Metalart...20roadking.jpg Mounting bracket cracked after about 3k miles due to vibration. It has a 1 yr warranty but I made my own bracket out of polished aluminum instead.
Though my first instinct when a car is coming into my lane is to get the heck out of there. I'm not about to sit around tooting my horn and rely on them to both hear and see me. They're dumb enough to be coming into my lane in the first place, so I'm not about to trust that they'll hear my horn and see me and stop.
Usually my revving the engine and tearing out of there gets their attention. Though as I've said before for particular egregious attempts at running me off the road I'll tap the horn to ensure they're looking when I signal my unhappiness.
