Default Something smaller

Wondering who has ever downsized to a smaller bike from a larger one. I have a 2019 Ultra Limited and I think I would like a smaller one since all I ever do is ride around town. I can't afford 2 bikes and I have only traveled more than a 100 miles once. If you did downsize did you regret it? What did you downsize from and too? Of course I would lose my behind money wise but this bike is too heavy for me in parking lots, tight spaces, etc.

Did you buy it new? It sux, because it puts ya in a helluva situation. Is there anything ya can do to make it better and mitigate the weight? Put reverse on it, lower, etc? I do think I seen somewhere ya can get reverse installed. Probably expensive. I understand your dilemma.

Yes I got it new and I've got 5500 miles on it. I could take the tour back off and reverse would be nice.
I just read a thread from 2016 and somebody said I watched many John Wayne movies and I never seen him switch to a shetland pony when he got into town. That's funny.
I also learned about using the front brake in a parking lot with the forks turned one way or the other. Good thing is people seem to love helping me pick the bike up.

Also a street glide seat and shocks that will put you closer to the ground. I dont get how reverse would help I have never even considered it. I always park with my front wheel pointed up hill. When backing up downhill your front brake is your friend.

I'm not sure how small small is for you but Harley has a few smaller bikes that could work. Personally I'm considering a Royal Enfield Himalayan but that would be a second bike. I like the no roads aspect.

Softail Heritage Classic would be one option saving about a hundred pounds of weight but if you're dropping the bike often maybe weight isn't the only problem here.

Have you ever taken any rider training?

As above on the rider training. How long have you been riding? Additionally, when you come to a stop or are maneuvering in a parking lot, you should not look down as that will cause you difficulty with balance etc.

Look down, fall down; you go where you are looking and where your head is turned.

You need to look far ahead to where you want to be and use your peripheral vision to know where you are with regards to lane/parking etc.

Good Luck.

Like others have said , practice makes perfect , taking a riding course would definitely teach you the skills you need to truly enjoy the bike you have now . If your content on selling the bike , why not look at buying a Road King or Heritage , much lighter and you'll still have the luggage space you need when out sight seeing or stopping at a neighborhood store .
