I can ride all day long without any hot spots burns on my solo. I am also fine w/out having a riders back rest on the solo.
However, on my SportsTouring saddle I do have a back rest and it is nice and comfy as well. My wife likes to use it to hold on to when she rides w/ me.
C&C rocks. They are super spendy, but man, they make a great seat. I had a custom leather SportTour made for my Dyna, with the gel insert. I spent like $1100 on that thing, but it totally changed my days on that bike.
I went with a HD CVO solo and pillion for the Street Glide, and I like it well enough, but on those 500 mile days, I start to wonder if I should have held out for another C&C
Any report on, or opinions to, whether having seams on the seating surface is an issue? Can the seating seams be felt or cause hot spots (on any seat for that matter)? Would a single smooth seating surface be better? Beginning to work up my order to C&C...
Thanks guys. I had mixed feelings about it when I bought it as it's harder than stock. I can ride on this for a good 2 hours before I start getting antsy for a break. Couldn't do that on stock, maybe an hour at most. I loved the Corbin on my old bike too. Be sure to treat the leather regularly. Mine is starting to show "cracks". Never had to condition a seat before, but just moved to FL a year ago so maybe the heat affects it.
I can't comment on the seams, but the cross stitching doesn't bother me at all. The wife isn't crazy about the back pillion, but it's much better than the skinny stock seat. She doesn't ride much, so doesn't make sense to invest in a full touring.

JMHO, but some riders may agree with me. Sometimes, stitching can be a entry point for water to get into the seats. Which kinda makes sense, more holes in seat, more water in seat.
I prefer just Plain Jane seats. But I do like a contrast stich to match the bike though.
Also*** any good hard saddle needs to break in, even for the BSR seat. It can take several hundred miles.
