I don't think the new Corbin's are the same. The old one I had ('03 Road King) sat me back a couple inches. I've heard the new ones don't go as far back, but it's been about 2 years since I looked at them. I fell into a great deal on the used C&C so had to at least try it to see if I liked it. It's been at least 2 years since I've used the Corbin. When I first got the C&C, it wasn't as comfortable but that could have been what I was used to in a broken in Corbin. I did a few 5000 mile trips on the Corbin without issue. Current bike has around 12000 miles with most of that being on the C&C and no issues there either. The Corbin had 2 rub marks up by the tank through the leather. The C&C has some slight cracking of the leather that I assume conditioning would have prevented. It's not through the leather or that noticeable unless you look close. Hopefully I caught it quick enough to prevent it further. Not had to use support on either, so can't comment there. If I had to buy today, I'd be happy with either.

I really do have to give a big shout out to C&C and Shad for being so patient as I decided on what options worked well together. I had a lot of emails with him back and forth about all of the options to find what would work best and add to the look of my bike. They have so many options to choose from with material, stitch patterns, seat position, padding, etc and the website is well laid out to show what the different options look like. I also found it useful to go to their facebook page and see other customer seats.

I ended up going with:
- Wide Solo seat w/Large backrest and the #2 medium passenger pillion
- Custom fit 2" back from stock
- Comfort Gel in both seat and Passenger Pillion
- Large sissy bar pad
- BMW Black Carbon Fiber vinyl with semi perforated vinyl accent bands
- Smooth black vinyl piping
- Shark Gray Thread
- Custom Embroidered Canadian Flags on each side of the seat

I'm really happy with the outcome and the price. here are some pics, let me know what you think. Extra thanks for making the custom Canadian flag for a northern neighbour. I saw a lot of american flags on other seats they made and liked the look.

I decided to get my seat done first with help from this forum where people recommended doing it before bars and foot controls. I'm glad I did because this seat really changes the position and feel of the bike. I was pretty set on doing extended controls but with the new seat, I'm not so sure I need that anymore as I feel a lot more stretched out. For reference, i'm 6'4". This seat sits 1" lower and 2" back from stock.

I'll try and get some better pictures soon. Have some more mods coming up too.

cheers

Thank you for the post! ...I've very close to making a decision on a new C&C Seat. Your post sealed the deal for me.

Cheers

Hello,

I thought I would share my new seat from C&C in Matt Carbon Fibre material.

I did have a heap of trouble installed the rear pillion seat, specifically trying to get the leather tongue physically under the metal bracket from the riders seat.

Very nice. I just got mine yesterday from Shad. One thing I noticed was how much easier the rider seat is to get on compared to my Harley low pro seat.

How did you go installing the pillion seat? It was not the easiest thing I've done that's for sure! The leather tongue needs be designed better to fit under the metal bracket easier.

The seat looks great . The main reason I haven't ordered a C&C seat yet
is the suction cups on the pillion . Are they sturdy ? Do they seem to hold
the pillion in place for 4 - 500 mile days ? Mama will be pissed if she falls off .

To be honest, the mounting of the pillion seemed odd to me at first. Yes, it uses 6 (or 4, I can't remember) suction cups and then there is a metal tab that sticks out the front. This metal tab goes under the T bracket that comes with the solo seat. There is only the back screw that really attaches to the bike. I was worried that it would be sliding off when I first saw it. My yamaha vstar had a rear pavilion with a very solid metal piece that hooked into the solo seat so I knew that wasn't going anywhere. Although I expected a better mounting system, the pillion does hold well and I have not had any issues with the wife on the back.
I made sure the fender was really clean when mounting the suction cups. I used some isopropyl to give a final wipe and make sure there was nothing greasy or slippery.

That's weird..I have a Harley lo profile seat and it simply slips on under the retainer & screws down at back. It's simple & super easy. Don't see how anything could be easier! And I LOVE the comfort of it! My butt never gets that butt burn!
