I'm sure this is a rookie question but I'm not the most computer literate person. Can I use the same USB stick to update both software and map on my Boom GTS or do I have to use two different "sticks" per update? Any other info for this procedure is greatly appreciated.
Just make sure the update is worth the money. Your current version may newest. Mine was only 2 years old, so I passed on updating till there is one this year or next.
other options is Google maps, Garmon, or other biker friendly GPS that update for free.
good luck.

I agree. I'm mainly interested in doing the software update as opposed to the map update. I find it ironic that you can buy a brand new Garmin unit with free updates for less than HD charges to simply update your current unit.
I'd suggest NOT getting a map update from Naviextras. They are total bullshit and usually more than a year old for $150. Presently, you can use Apple Carplay and if you can wait it out (HD is notoriously slow...) HD has released information that Android Auto will be released this summer...in which case, we pretty much will be freed from the inept and bloodthirsty Naviextras out of Romania. Just my opinion...

I don't know about Apple carplay but I do know Android Auto eats data when being used for map directions. Data that I don't have. So paying $150 to update the HD system would be a lot cheaper for me then upping my phone plan per month for the additional data I would need. But I think my issue is more of a Canada thing than it would be in the U.S.
You are probably right about the data. I have an unlimited data plan with Verizon (whom I dislike as much as Naviextras) out of necessity. Good luck whichever way you go...nutt'n is cheap anymore...lol
