I got the 2" mufflers and when I first put them on thought "Oh my God, that's too much". I even sought opinions from friends, acquaintances, and even strangers about it. Decided to keep them anyway and have gotten used to them. Still much quieter than a lot of what you'd run across on any given day.

One thing I believe that influences the sound is the tune of the engine. When I put them on that was the only change to an otherwise stock bike. Since then I've picked up a PCIII to combat the heat and with proper "jetting" the mufflers became quite tame. In playing with the fueler to see about better mileage I can readily discern the relationship between leanness/harshness.

If you're going to stick with some sort of engine management that uses O2 sensors (in the stock locations on stock pipes) it just might be advisable to get a 2" for the right and a smaller size for the left. My right outlet has a dusting of carbon inside and my left has a dusting of dust. I can easily believe that the rear O2 sensor could get washed with air coming back in the left pipe at times; more back pressure might just be in order to combat that.

I am in the minority here, I have the 2.0s and found them too loud to enjoy the radio. I just got the 1.5s and are putting them on tommorrow.

I have the 2.0 pipes and they seem perfect to me..not too loud or too quiet, louder in low gear when you get on it but reasonably quiet on the highway or around town without reving it up..I like the 2.0's !

Just to throw a wrench into the conversation...I know techs that are suggesting on a stock scavenging exhaust to put 1.75 baffle in the left and 2.0 in the right and it gives better results. I ain't a tech, I'm just a nose picker so I couldn't tell ya that validity of this.
