Save Money Installing Bars Without Wiring Extensions
You can install your handlebars without wiring extensions, so long as the connectors at least protrude out of the handlebars, by pulling the harness connectors to the handlebar clamp as the pictures show. The pictures show the fairing with the radio removed, though you don't need to remove the radio to do this work. Simply remove two plastic clips that hold the wiring tray in place, slide the tray forward and down, then snip the wire ties: done.
Should the pictures disappear in the future, these are the steps taken:
1. Pull the wire tray under the radio (that contains the handlebar control connectors) by removing two plastic retainers
2. Snip the wire tie on either side of the wire tray to release the handlebar control connectors
3. Move the handlebar control connectors back to the handlebar clamp (pushing them from the front of the bike with a long tool works)
4. Reattach wire tray.
5. Connector your handlebar connectors.
I hear if you cut the wire ties and reroute those plugs to meet the wiring from the handlebars, it will mess up your ignition! Bada Bing!
Just razzing ya.
I just put 12 Twin Peaks on my Ultra and didnt need to extend the wires. They stuck out about 4-5 out of the bars. I didnt even need to cut zip ties.

cool. my controls must have shorter cables. I only had about a finger length of cable sticking out of my 10 twin peaks and my wild 1 579s. its over 6 from the bar to the connections.

yeah it must vary from bike to bike because I just installed KST Bison 12 bars and no way my wires would reach without either extensions or cutting wire ties and rerouting wires.
