Thank you for your interest and inquiry in Legend Suspensions.
We always suggest going with a 13 shock for the best ride quality since it has an additional inch of travel over the 12 shock. While the 12 does offer a fantastic ride and is much better than stock, the 13 is our flagship and most popular shock on your style of bike.
However, before purchasing I would suggest having someone take a measurement of your current rear shocks while youre sitting on the bike. The measurement that were looking for is from the center of the top shock bolt to the center of the bottom shock bolt (this is what we refer to as the eye to eye length). This will give you an idea of what you can expect when bolting on a set of our shocks. Our 13 shocks, when set correctly for your weight will measure 12 eye to eye and have 3" of travel, whereas our 12 shock will measure 11.5 and has 2" of travel.
We suggest standard duty shocks if the combined rider and luggage weight is under 500 LBS. If the combined rider and luggage weight is over 500 LBS more than 50% of the time, we suggest heavy duty shocks.
