Default S/E compensator question....

I have a question on an 08 ultra S/E compensator installation....ok so I ordered there (HD's) opoxy to glue the plastic oil deflector in the cover....but you need a special caulk gun for it...😳🙈...so I've read that you can also use JB Weld to do this
has anyone used the JB Weld to do this and which type did you use....thanks....if the dealer doesn't have the caulk gun I'd like to have a second option....again thanks for any input

I used JB weld on my 2012, just the regular stuff (just make sure it’s mixed correctly). Put the metal clip on and clamp it then let it cure.

I used jb weld and very happy with the results. I have the epoxy glue here and was not able to use it because it required the gun

Same here. Regular JB Weld worked fine for me too. Clean the inner side of the primary with brake clean. Then wipe with acetone so the surface is primed. Use the JB sparingly so you don't get too big a goop edge squeezed out when you place the oil deflector in position. But if you do the bead will wipe away with a glove protected finger. Make sure you have a full 24 hour cure before reinstalling.

I used JB Weld. You can get the same kit H-D used here https://www.chemical-concepts.com/lo...lok-mx-t6.html. It’s identical and comes with applicator for $20

Default No safe place to store while glue cures

I have been procrastinating on installing the se compensator because I don't have good way to store my bike with the primary exposed for 24 hours of cure time and the few hours it will take to clean the primary cover and make sure it's dry. Is it going to kill anything if I skip the deflector for the time being and install in a few months when I can be sure to have a dry shelter for it?

Personally I would tape a bag around my primary to keep stuff out. While it may be ok to run it without the deflector I wouldn’t risk it.

One option you might consider (if money isn’t tight) is to buy the newer narrow primary cover, they have the baffle built in. I actually just swapped mine do to blacking out covers, figured the narrow cover would be worth it.

Question: Has anyone else replicated or re-manufactured the plastic slinger? I believe directing fluid is essential to the longevity of all compensators.

It’s a shame there is nothing available today that can measure white knuckles & big a$$ smiles.
