Depends on the cam and build. I used the stock p-rods in two bikes. But, with the 57's, one of the front lifters would take longer to pump up. Installed adj prods in front cylinder only and set preload I think at ~.130, its been a couple years, and all is good. This is with Hylift Johnson Lifters standard. The 57s, like some other cams, do have a smaller base circle then stock.
Those are what I am also running in my 110. I had S&S in my 107 and found them noisy and I just hate tappet noise, drives me up the wall. So when I built the 110 I heard about Larry's Johnson Hylift Lifters and I got a hold of him and we talked about them and my dilemma. He said they would do the trick so I bought them.
They are a great lifter, I will not try any other brand now.

f your doing a cam install only, its A LOT easier to use adj's.
Thanks, I will only be changing the lifters and adding the rocker lockers for now. I get some pretty loud and hard knocking for the top half on some start ups, the oil has to get hot before it goes away.
I'm tempted to replace the oil pump as well for more flow
