A couple years back my engine blew part. Piston was mangled around the crank. Total mess. I did not have enough confidence that the bottom end was not damaged so I replaced it with an S&S. Since then the old motor -- or what's left of it -- has sat in my garage, which you can see is in need of a cleaning.
Should I sell it, or just donate it to the guy in my neighborhood who recycles scrap metal for the scouts?
I paid about $50 for a 250 sprint like that one. Was about 1969, and it needed a new valve seat and exhaust valve. Replaced the seat, and hand seated the new valve. Rode it for about a year before selling for $300.
The one I really missed was the first new bike I bought was a HD/A 125cc 2 stroke. No idea what model it was, since I was only 14 at the time. I rode that little sucker for years. Was on my own at 16, and rode it to work, rain or shine in Charleston SC, until it finally died from running wide open on the highway to keep me from getting run over. Good little bike, as long as you know who remembered to put oil in the gas.
