Picked up a cheap Chinese tour pack that is coming next week or so. No way the stock antenna is going to work with it. I just bought the shorty antenna but I think it's going to be too long as well.
Short of going to the internal antenna, what do you suggest? Honestly I never listen to commercial radio anyways so this might be a moot point. I'd like to have something in place though.
Just pick up a cheap short antenna from Walmart or your local auto supply store. I got a short one for my wife's RG. She too doesn't use the radio either.
H-D does sell relocation kits that put the antenna down behind the saddle bags. I have them for both my AM/FM antenna and my CB antenna.
I made the mounts for the flags but the antennas are installed using the H-D relocation kits. You could probably make your own antenna mount similar to what I did for the Flags. Just a 3/4X3/4 X1/8 steel angle mounted to the TP rack. Either way, you will need the antenna cable extension.
Back when I had reception issues w/ my '09 FLHX w/ HD Hidden Antenna, I bought a "Y" splitter & short auto antenna (car parts store purchase) & added under fairing. With both antennas connected, my reception issues were resolved...just offering another option.
