So i have made a few upgrades on my old -02 king this winter, a -95" kit and power tune duals are som of them, runs nice but i´m allways trying to shift one more time so i really would like a 6 speed with OD and shure why not a little more toque...found a pretty good deal on a complete drive train from a 2014 street glide with very low milage and was thinking why not put all of it in my 2002 and put the old one in my FXR (another story) so the question is, has anyone done it ? tried searching for it but found nothing.
Thank´s
It'll be a shitload of fabrication to get the 103" and 6 speed into your old '02 frame not to mention getting the rear belt pulley to line up with the tranny. Not a swap for a novice for sure unless you have plenty of experience and know your way around a machine shop.
Or look at the screaming eagle 6 speed gear set. Even a pulley swap to raise your gear ratio...any will be easier than doing that engine swap. Not to mention a good running 95/98 will run circles around a 103
Another vote for a baker gear set for your existing transmission.
As far as torque, maybe a different cam? I have two bikes. Both have 103's. One has S&S 510 and the other has SE204's. Two completely different feels as far as torque, HP, and throttle response.
This is from a guy Named Brandon on a performace bagger site on facebook: Motor and trans will bolt right in. Need 07 or 08 rear passenger pegs, swing arm from a 04 or newer, or use the new one and wheel and get a bigger fender, and i believe he said you use your stock charging system. Frame makes up how the motor mounts, not the motor. Jeremy Wilson has the know how and practice of doing this. sounds interesting i think.
The frames are not the same. The mounting points for the engine, the transmission, the exhaust, the swingarm, the shocks, and various other integral parts are not a straight out bolt-in swap. Can't explain it any better than that!
