Default Road sofa

Wondering if anyone with a road sofa from saddlemen can give me some input, I have a 2017 RGS and need a touring 2 up seat, I’ve been looking at all the options and I really like the Road Sofas looks and that it has a matching tour pack back rest and back rest and you can get a perforated cover. I currently have a stock seat which has been fine but I think the foam is done, it’s got 32,000 miles on it and I’m a big guy, 290lbs and 6 feet tall with a 38 inch waist. I had an LS slim for a minute and I really liked it, the perforated cover makes a huge difference in the seat breathing, but it was just too narrow to do longer rides on...

so my question is, should I get the extended reach or a standard one? I like where my stock seat sits me on the bike now, I have read that the standard reach seat moves you an inch forward and up...so is the extended reach going to move me back farther than my stock seat? I’m not that worried about moving up, I have been wanting a taller windshield anyway so that’s not really an issue....what do you guys think? I have a mid size tour pack now and am probably going to sell it and get the king pack with the marching back rest and everything it looks really nice all together like this

There was a conversation on here a couple of weeks ago about the road sofa. Most seem to like them. Every butt is different. I know you hate to spend that much and then hate it.

290 with a 38" waist? Damn. I'm also a big guy. I've been getting seats from Diamond seats in Florida. They will make a seat according to your height weight inseam etc. Ignore the dorky velour seat photos, they can do a variety of stitching. Plain black vinyl for my 09 EG was $725 + shipping. I knew this EG seat was good before I got to the corner.

right? I wish I could at least sit on one, like I said, the short time I had with my LS slim I loved the perforated cover and it looks was comfortable it just didn’t work for long rides since it was too narrow for my butt. It’s made for guys with like a 32-34 inch waist 🤣

thanks I’ll take a look, I’m getting closer to a 40 inch waist as I get deeper into my 30s 🤣 I have about 50lbs I need to lose, which I’m starting on soon, even when I was in Really good shape I was still 245lbs, it makes it tough to find motorcycle gear that fits me good, seems like it’s all made for guys that are 5 foot 10 and 180lbs.

I've been looking for a Road Sofa online for 2 months...I've looked online @ Revzilla, Dennis Kirk, JP Cycles, you name it....they are all sold out, unless you want a heated one, or one with a back rest

I just want the seat, and can't find one, anywhere.

I went ahead and ordered an extended reach seat from Dennis Kirk with the back rest, they had a couple of the carbon ones in stock. Dennis Kirk takes returns so I can at least put it on my bike and check it out. I would like the perforated cover of the LS but I get caught In the rain in the PNW a lot, not sure how that would hold up over the years. Being as big and heavy as I am and how much I ride I am hoping starting with a firm seat Is a better idea, the foam in my stock seat is totally gone, I rode about 1000 miles last week with my wife on vacation and my tail bone is still sorr. my bike has almost 150 horsepower so I like having a back rest 😁 I’ll let you know when I get it.

Got my new seat, my initial impression is impressed. The fit and finish of it is off the charts, great looking seat, i got the extended reach version, glad I did, i seem to sit about the same distance back as I did with my stock seat. It moves me up 1.5 inches or so I think, changing seats is hard because you get so used to a certain position and if it changes even a little bit it feels weird. The seat does feel pretty hard but everyone says that, and I really think if I just get it broke in I’ll like it. I think I may have to get a little taller windshield, My windshield hits me right at my chin now so not sure on that, might be ok. it feels really odd to sit up higher on my bike, one inch and I feel like I’m sitting on a dirt bike now 🤣. I’m gonna go get 100-150 miles in on this afternoon
