Default from the factory is "00000". At least it was on mine.

That's impossible. The only allowable digits are 1-9.

I'm going to try this again but so far all I get to is the place where the odo is supposed to go to the code but it doesn't start blinking. Am I missing something?

My bike is a 09 and the instructions have 2 different directions, 1 is step 3, this said press left turn signal 2 times, my manual says 3 times. 2nd is how you close out after you make the change. Step 15 Mine says to turn key to off before module re arms. This states turn engine stop switch to off than turn ignition off. Might be helpful to know this if you don't have a manual and are having problems.
