getting the SGS prepped for tomorrows UPS delivery of some much needed rear shocks. I went through Parts Giant (on here). They gave a really good forum discount and 2 day free shipping!! I can't wait to get them installed and test them out. out with the old, waiting on the new!
I know, I had been looking for a while, I emailed Howards, but hadn't heard back. Email Parts Giant TJ is the guy I spoke with. super good service and fast shipping. I'll post some pics of the install tomorrow.
I had Revo-A and Ledgends cartridges installed on my 2009 UC last fall while my bike was in the shop (local independent) for service. I really like the shocks over the factory air. The ride is much firmer and grips the road much better. The OEM air shocks were way to soft for my liking when riding mountain roads and it bottomed out on most transitions... I was always doubting them while riding. The ride is so much better now.
For reference... we're around 400lbs when we ride together.
Got the shocks installed last night. I set the sag and took it for a little spin. I will get some good testing and set up in this Saturday. I am excited to get them dialed in. First impression, really easy to set the sag (no tools needed), and the rebound adjustment looks easy too.
A follow up and first impression, went on a little 60 Mile loop with shocks on setting 3, I like the ride quality and it rides much better than stock suspension, rode back on setting 2. There is a difference in the settings which is nice. I will stick with 2-3. I ride 1 up and weight 175, this setting seems to fit me the best. Over all I am very happy with this upgrade over stock. well worth the money. I had emailed Howards for a quote, but they didn't reply back (not a diss, just an observation). If you are looking for a vast improvement over stock and like the simplicity of set up and ride, these are a great option. Ride safe, and keep it shiny side up!
wow that is a great price! I just had these put on my 09 Ultra in July by a local Indie. I paid $835 plus tax plus install (I was having several things done) and felt like I was getting a good deal. I was very pleased with the results. Immediately I felt I should have done this when I first got the bike. Made my stock air ride feel sloppy and loose. These also fixed my bagger swagger in the corners. One observation- the rebound settings are for real and must match on both shocks. I was making adjustments and had left one side on 4 and changed to 3 on the other. I did not mean to have them set differently. They let me know it though- it was like they were fighting each other over every bump.
