Default Tire Damage Question

Bike had brand new Michelin Commanders installed, then I put it up. After 2 months I pulled the cover off and the front tire was damn near flat. Inspected and could not find a leak, will check again this week. My question - How likely is it that the tire is damaged from sitting flat? I filled it up, took it for a 20 mi ride, felt fine. Spent 30 min searching for a pinhole or leak at the rim lip and valve stem, absolutely nothing. Strange.

Damage is not likely, but there must be a leak somewhere. It shouldn't be flat after only 2 months.

Your tire should not have gone flat in that short period of time , something up . Did you check it with soap and water ? Could be a bad valve stem ( valve core not screwed in all the way ) or rim leak , bubbles will find it for you . Guessing you didn't find anything you picked up on your last ride . I wouldn't worry about the tire sitting flat , know a guy who rode another 10k on his after it sat for 5 months during winter storage , turned out he had a nail in it , patched it and rode all summer on it .

Another for it should not have gone flat in two months. I would check it with soap and water. It could have been a one off where something small got got between the tire and rim hence a slow leak but when flat it moved and you may never have the problem again. I’ve seen that with my road bike tire once or twice in my life

I did soap and water from a spray bottle, took my time and did it for 4 revolutions. Did not see one leak. Is it better to brush the soap and water on maybe?

It could've been leaking at the bead for some reason and sealed back up when you aired it up. I've seen it.

Just watch the pressure, if it stays up keep checking till you trust it and keep riding.

Shouldn’t matter as long as it suds up good. Get it wet and let it sit for a minute. Slow leaks can be hard to find, be patient. I would start at the valve stem. Make sure the core is tight, they probably removed it when installing the tires.

How do you make sure the core is tight?
