I have the touring width, as I stated earlier...it does help out a bit to reduce the dirty air behind the windshield.

I have 14" bars so the extension does give my hands protection. I dont find the look of it that weird at all. The HD touring windsplitter that came stock alao had the extension but the Freedom seemed to work better for me.

unfortunately, there is not a windshiled that works for everyone. But in my case, Freedom is working for me. So in my case, yes the oddity in appearance is worth the benefit.

Hope you find one that works for you.

I guess I'll find out when my 9" touring width comes in...been just shy of 3 weeks now. They state 3-4 weeks out due to backlog, if anyone questions that.

I have the touring width, 8", seems the radio sounds a bit louder, less volume needed, and a little less pressure from the air on my hands, but not completely gone, i wanted it for winter riding actually, most people tell me it looks fine, but not sure it helps that much with the air on the hands, It's made really well, i still have the wiggle , flutter on my glasses, wondered if i should of went an inch taller, but seems right at nose level, so, guess it doesn't help you much, jmo

I went with the 13" touring version. Zero complaints and it by far the best improvement for comparability I have made yet.

I have the 10" touring model on my 17" flhtk. Went from an 08" flhtc with 10" recurve to the stock shield on the 17" I'm 6'4" and the wife is 6'0" she hated the stock shield and the recurve touring was the answer for her buffeting.

I just went to the wide touring 10inch from the tallest Harley wind splitter and it made a big difference on my 2015 FLHTK and maybe could have gone one inch taller but the wind noise and buffeting is a lot better unless I am behind larger cars and or semi. I wear a full face modular helmet with Bluetooth and am 6’1”. The top of the shield is a few inches under my line of sight so no worries there.

I have the standard width but highly recommend Freedom Shields in whatever size works for you. Here are a couple of pics of the touring size shields from their website:

In my earlier reply I failed to mention that I bought the Wide Touring Windshield for my 2015 Ultra Limited. Speakers sound a bit better but that’s just a minor side benefit. I’m very pleased with the Freedom Shield AND their customer service A+.

I am 5'8" and tend to slouch on my 14 ultra.

I ended up ordered 3 heights from John, all touring width. 9" one was best for wind blocking for my wife, but was right at my sightline. Tried 7 & 8 and preferred the field of view of the 7

80-90 mph these are night and day better than others I've tried. Touring width seems to take the air off my shoulders and hands.

Tossing around the idea of ordering a standard width for summer and touring for winter.

Quality of the shields are fantastic and John is very easy to deal with.

I have the touring width, but I have nothing to compare it to except the old OEM. I like the look of the touring width better than the other but can't really testify to the performance difference. All I can say is that the buffeting with the OEM made my bike unrideable. The freedom Shield is a godsend comparatively.
