Default freedom shields "touring" model

Anyone here have the touring model from freedom shields installed on their bike? I have one I just bought but I have to exchange it because its too short overall and the wind is beating my head to death. I bought the wider style hoping for more wind protection but honestly didn't notice any difference on my arms or shoulders as the description states. Plus I'm not 100% sold on the look either. Just looking for opinions on it from those that may have it before I make my exchange request.

My best advice is to call them at Freedom Shields. I know from personal experience they really know their stuff. . In my case, I tried a few different sizes of their shields until I found the perfect height for me. Their shields come in 1" increments and are returnable/exchangeable as long as you don't remove the protective covering. So I kept the covering on, went for a ride and gave each a test.

So....call them.

(btw....helmets can also cause turbulent air too, especially if they have visors)

I have one I just purchased this year. Only been on a few miles but compared to the OEM it is superb. Mine is too tall tho and right in my line of sight. Gonna order another one next year, only 2" shorter. I installed the 8" this year.

Did you buy the "touring" model or the standard width? I'm just trying to decide if the extra width offers any real time benefits

Based on your description I'm assuming the shield is for a non-fairing bike.

I replaced my 19" Memphis Shades with the 16" recurve for my Road King and I love it. I do recommend you call them directly and talk with them. They'll ask all the right questions and get you fit up with the right shield for you.

Also, the singular most effective item for wind management on mine is the fork fangs. I made my own but there are multiples out there that'll do the trick.

Just installed Freedom dark smoke 8” touring width a couple months ago and have put about 8k miles since.

Replaced an HD 10” windsplitter touring.

The Freedom has worked as advertised. The OEM was ok but the Freedom worked better for me. John at Freedom is great to deal with.

I experimented with a couple different helmets and there is a marked difference. My Akoury half has a more movement than my 3/4, as it should be expected. So helmets do make a difference.

But as far as the Freedom shield, I have no issues or complaints with the form and function of it.

OK apparently no one has the "touring width" model that I am referring to. Its about three inches wider on each side and the bottom edge is contoured to the shape of the fairing. Its a great concept but it looks a little odd because its wider than the windshield clamping area.
Thanks for all the suggestions on calling John and how to determine the height. I got all that. I'm just looking for the opinions of anyone that may be using the "touring width" windshields they sell. I am trying to find out if the benefit is worth the oddity of the appearance.
I tried to post up a link to an image of the windshield I am referring to but it always just goes to the website main page.

Me personally the 130 miles I rode I really didn't see any benefit from it. That's is why I asked the question initially. I have to exchange it for a different height so I am considering just going with the standard width.

I have a 10” touring width, and a 9” standard. I ride mainly with the 9”, and it does the job great. I bust out the touring width for longer rides. It definitely cuts down on some of the wind, but I’m sure the extra 1” height is part of the equation.
Not really apples to apples, but that’s my experience.
