I am installing a Red Shift 468 in my 2019 CVO Street Glide. My bike comes from the factory mostly blacked out except the pushrod covers are chrome. Should I stick with chrome pushrod covers or swap them out for black ones?
Since it is a CVO, I don't want to change the aesthetic that much but black pushrod covers might look cool. What do you guys think? Anyone with a similar bike that switched? Pictures?
Thanks in advance.
When I built the motor on my 19 CVO, I did black for the push rod tubes and the base. Wanted to be a little different.
That looks great, mine are all chrome and I hate it. I have a new black D&D Boarzilla arriving next week, I might swap out the covers at the same time. I already have adjustable 120r Tman pushrods so it should be easy.
How is the black on your D&D holding up? I've seen some have rust issues, your's looks perfect.
The black on the pipe still looks perfect! Its very durable. Youre bike looks sick!

Glad to hear and thanks, new exhaust will be Wed but I was sent a chrome ghost pipe instead of black so I' have to wait for the exchange before I install.
Well it is done and here is how it turned out. I am extremely happy with how it looks. I am glad I changed my mind and went with the black covers and bases instead of the chrome. I am also fortunate that Zippers is only about 45 minutes from my house and they had the black kit in stock.
Looks great, I have some black coming as well. Decided since I have to replace my lifters anyways I might as well install the black pushrod tubes while I'm at it.
Also just to throw it out there, the cheap black plastic bolt covers that you can get off ebay or amazon really help black out the rest of the powder coated parts on the engine. The just slide over the allen bolts, haven't lost one in 7 months.

I'll be taking my 2020 RGL to Fuel Moto in a month. I've already got black rocker box lowers, black pushrod tubes, and black tappet covers on my work bench for them to install when the put the engine back together. And just for grins I also have the black upper engine stabilizer from the head to frame too.
On an otherwise blacked out bike from HD, the chrome they left behind really seems out of place.

If I put those bolt covers on any part of my engine or anywhere on my bike, my service tech would kill me! Service techs hate those kinds of things.
