You know theres another post on here about putting cheap accessories on a Harley after you pay top dollar to own one.
Yea, I read that and it makes sense. But for something like this that I'm only going to use a few days out of the year, it makes more sense to go the cheapo route.
I haveone of theseusedin fire engine red if anyone is interested in a used one, $75 total shipping included. Yes it served the purpose for the price but my sweet wife bought us a HD tourpak for Christmas.
I got caught in a serious gully washer coming back from Biketoberfest last year and didn't have any water leakage with the Customcyclegear/Matuza box--Its gasket is not like the one in the lid of a HD King TP, but it worked well for me--adding some weather stripping would be an easy addition if you are concerned.
I learned that I can buy 8 cheapo tourpaks for the price of the over priced HD one.
I've had the "cheap" tourpak for about two years. Been to four rallys and thousands of miles with the wife leaning against it. No signs of it breaking yet.
Not everything I own has a HD sticker on it. That makes me kinda...well...happy...
I bought the VIP one a few years ago and I couldn't complain about the quality for the price. The vivid black was a good match for my bike.My only problem was I just didn't like the look and the pad didn't have much side support for the wifey. In the end I fixed my oldHD King Pack and sold the VIP piece unused for $75.
I have a 2006 SG with docking hardware for a sissy bar and I'm looking to add the "cheap trunk" for the other half on long rides. How do you mount this trunk (Matzua..sp?)if you don't have a luggage rack ???
jb: You would use the same HD two-up detachable tour pak rack and mounting hardware that you would use to mount an HD King or Chopped TP.
Unless the Matuza/VIP/Customcyclegear box has changed since I bought and installed mine two years ago, you will need to drill five holes in its bottom (using the chrome U-tube from the detachable hardware kit as a template) to attach the box to the rack.
