Mine has over 55k on it, so mine has definitely been "run in", but since only a few mention what bike they are referring to, the difference between hyd and cable clutch can be a big one. You have no way to adjust the hyd clutch, so you get what you get, as far as engaged or not.
Sometimes when I roll into my garage, I have to shut it off to more quickly find neutral. Now I AM going to experiment with different fluids to see if I can make a difference on mine, who knows?
Once I dumped the Syn 3 the PO had in my 09 Ultra Classic neutral became much easier to find.
Tried Rotella T4 in the primary & that helped then went with Bel Ray Primary Fluid last time & that's working well too.
It’s always a PITA finding neutral in new bikes. Give it 1,000 miles and it’ll get easier. But as far as sitting still, idling to hit neutral, that’s a pain. Hit neutral before you stop.
They all do that... (especially when new)... your dealer won't be wrong on this one.
It gets easier as it breaks in and you get some synthetic fluid in it.
Mine is tougher from 2nd to N, than from 1st to N, (though I do realize this could be my pressing pressure vs. my lifting pressure, but just sayin')
But again, it definitely has eased over time...
There is a trick I learned many years ago my friend. And now it is such a habit, I really do not even think about it.
When your foot is on the floorboard, slide the foot forward as far as it will go so the shifter lever is now higher on the top of your left foot than normal.
This way, all you need to do is to lift your toes up just a little bit. There is a fulcrum or lever action here that allows for a small movement from first gear into neutral if you know what I mean.
When you try to use your toes, it is easy to flip the shifter up into second gear totally missing neutral.
But when you slide your foot forward as far as it will go and then raise your toes, you will pop it right into neutral easily.
What you need to do is add the heel shifter to your 2020 model bike. That way a slight tamp down with the heel of your boot will slide that puppy right into Neutral nearly every time. Lifting up with your toe just won't do the trick with the H-D transmission.
