I'll give that a try in the morning.
Hah.........was thinking of this thread when I did the foot shift maneuver today.

Let us know how it goes for you my friend.

'06 FLHRPI,
Amsoil Severe Gear 75-110 did the trick for my RK after replacing shift shaft lever. Neutral slides in like butter and the gear clash is minimal engaing first.

Default Linkage

The HD stock linkage can be sloppy from the start. When I bought my new 17 RGS, the first mod I did was to change the shifter linkage to a rod with heim joints on both ends...Never had a problem finding neutral after that, even when new. Also, heavy gear oil in the trans helps....75W140.

Changing to Redline....did the trick for me. Occasionally, it might take me one extra try to find N but usually not.

I hope this helps. When I first got my bike, it was a matter of learning the little nuances of how it feels and when I know I'll hit it. At first, I felt like I need to sacrifice a bull to the neutral god in order to get it to go in neutral. Now, I can get it right there, 99% of the time.

It may be an issue, but it may be a matter of just getting used to it.

This is how my average traffic light stop goes.....

Heeeeyyyy, look at me, cool guy on a bike......Im just going to slip into neutral and roll the last 10 yards and lower my feet at the last second 'cause Im a badasssssswait a second......neutral, cmon neutral...cmon (car in from of me now looming closer) CMON...DAMINT.....1st....2nd...1st...(CAR BUMPER DANGER CLOSE-GRAB FRONT BRAKE NOW).......Too slow now, grab a fistfull of clutch and awkwardly throw both feet on the ground like its my first day riding. Now bring left foot up......2nd....1st...NEUTRAL.....YAH! THERE IT ISSTOPLIGHTNOWGREEN!!!!!! Smash back into first and pull away, slightly veering to the right as the acceleration catches me off guard and I pull back on the bar with my throttle hand...

Oh YEAH MILF in the minivan......Im cool.....hold up, Im catching up to you now...sheet, another light........(process starts all over)

(thinking about that thread where someone mentions running redline or 70-140 something to assist in the whole neutral thing........)

Here's how I find neutral when hot: I put it in neutral. Been that way for every Harley I've ever owned.
