A month ago filled up my road king at a Shell station with Nitro premium gas, traveled another 12 miles and noticed an increase in power, not just a little increase but a significant increase. Then the exhaust notes were more pronounced at idle waiting for traffic light to change. I'm saying to myself am I witnessing a great find or is my mind playing tricks. Was thinking everyone who tries something new believes its a great find, but turns out to be just an imagination. So I put it out of my mind and just focused on my scenic ride. The following morning decided to take my scoot to work a 27 mile back country ride, started to notice same things as previously, this is definitely something I need to look into. My ride from work back home was something I really had a hard time imagining of what has just occurred. I ran it through the gears hard same thing I have done once every other week at this one stretch of highway. When I looked down at my speedometer it normally shows 80 mph, this time it was 95.... amazing!!! When I got home went right for my laptop and googled Shell Nitro. This gas has no ethanol a real PLUS, and its 94 octane another PLUS, this gas was developed by the Ferrari Racing Team for Shell and contains NOS and 12 types of detergents. No wonder this gas is so amazing.
Has anyone else have similar experiences using this gas?

It’s a shame there is nothing available today that can measure white knuckles & big a$$ smiles.
I think its actually 91 octane and though I dont notice the dramatic difference you did, I do notice a difference when running non-ethanol premium fuel. Better milage (confirmed time and again) and better power (perceived by butt dyno)

Higher octane gas does not generate more power. But, if your bike was previously engaging the anti knock system because of crappy gas, or a too aggressive tune, then possibly better &/or higher octane will resist knocking and your bike won’t retard the spark, thereby reducing power, to reduce knock.
For years and years I bought gas up at a station near the house. I educated myself on Top Tier gas, a station selling Top Tier will have sticker on the pump or door of the station. This gas will have all the legal quantities of detergents to certify "Top Tier", my station did not have this label. Started taking the bikes to Shell and yes the carb orifices seemed to have gotten cleaner and my injected bikes ran better, the injector nozzles were being cleaned of deposits. Then I tried Shell my cars, both of them had better pickup and a slight performance gain. One car is ported injection and the other is Direct Fuel Injection. I'm a believer in Top Tier fuels. The irony of this is, my station I used for many years is called "Quality".
I believe it's car and driver or road and track that only uses Shell premium for their road test. They have recorded test showing there is a significant but small improvement in 0-60, 0-100 elapsed times and improved fuel economy. It's most likely from less spark retard allowing the engine to preform more efficient combustion resulting in more power. It you aren't using a top tier gas in your 20-40k + bike well you get what you pay for. In most fill ups a top tier gas is 2-4 cents a gallon higher than the less gas.
