Default Step Up Touring Seats and Passenger Comfort

Wondering who on here runs a step up style seat (BMC, Saddlemen, Drag Specialties, Lepera) on their touring bike with 2 up riding and long miles each day.

Looking to upgrade the seat on my 08 electra glide. Currently it has an 07 road glide seat (stock) that my woman has always been pretty comfortable on for the days we ride (500 miles). One option was reupholstering it to add a bit more cushion and style to it (red diamond stitch) along with the tour pack back rest...but I can't help to get swayed by the step up seats and lower back support they provide for the rider. However, I don't want 2 seats for this bike, I would rather have just one that looks good and works both when solo riding and when I have a passenger.

Just wondering how those lepera kickflips, drag specialties predators, saddleman step ups, etc. fare with a passenger on the back and some miles under the belt.

I have also been searching for the "one" seat to do it all. Look good and be comfortable for me and her on long trips.
Seems like an ALMOST impossible task. Everyones *** is different but most saddlemen, Lucky daves etc report back a pretty unbearable rear section for the lady.
I have the Drag Predator 3 and its nice for me, but the rear section is tiny. No good for long days two-up.

My long search has narrowed it down to the Saddlemen road sofa (but its bigggggg), and what I THINK is going to be my choice unless I hear differently, is the C&C Sport Tour....this seems to have the best reviews for rider and passenger, AND looks nice and sleek, IMO. They have a lot of gel, backrest, and stitching options also.

I'll be following along.

The lucky Dave’s “get lucky” seat looks like a pretty good middle of the road.

edit: I actually sat on a road sofa a couple weeks ago and it wasn’t as big as I’d assumed it’d be. It looked good on the bike it was on.

Just checked it out, that's a wicked looking seat!!! Exactly what I'm after, especially since it seems thick enough to keep a passenger happy!

I'm leary though...I hear a LOT of people saying it takes them forever to get their stuff from them these days. Not sure how true it is, but I've seen it multiple times online.

They sent me an email a couple weeks ago saying they were back in stock and shipping again.
I am on the fence with purchasing one myself yet, nothing about the company. Just trying to decide if that’s the one.

Ahh ok, fair enough.

I havent had much luck finding any reviews on the seat. I think I will email them regarding dimensions on the seat, especially in regards to width for the passenger

I have the Saddleman step up on my RKC. Only reason I went with it is because a Mustang Touring seat was included with the sale of my bike. I ride 90% solo and liked the looks of the step up seat. My wife can ride on it for about a 1/2 hour and that's it. I don't know anyone who would be comfortable on a 7" wide seat for any length of time, no matter who you send it to or how it gets churched up with padding/ gel. I throw the mustang seat on when we head out riding together. If I was looking for a single, do it all seat, the Saddleman step up would not be it.

I am gonna have to agree with you.

The road sofa from saddleman seems to be the way to go with a passenger and them actually enjoying themselves.

How do you find the step up for comfort for yourself just out of curiosity? Or is it more about looks for the rider too with that seat?

Another option might be to send your seat to mean city cycles and have them redo it for you and your Lady and then just run a removable back rest for you on the long haul days.

Its been a long time since I rode more than 200 miles in a day. I have young kids and time just doesn't allow for it. A fee times I've been on if for 2 or 3 hours on back roads I've been comfortable. I havent done much long distance traveling in it to judge how I'd like it for true all day riding.
