Just went with discountesp .com as a number of my HOG brothers have used it with good success and my indy says they’re easy to deal with.

Having just bought a 2020 RGL, I'm interested in 3rd party ESPs. What matters to me:

* Price (to obtain coverage over 7 years of ownership)
* Acceptance by dealers and independent shops
* Limitations of coverages
* Customer reimbursement for self-paid repairs

I'm open to recommendations on specific companies....and good feedback.

Having worked in two HD dealerships I can tell you Harley ESP only. What is a couple hundred bucks on 20-50k machines and you hear those dreaded words ‘not covered’.

I've used the discounted esp though Jim a few times at different dealers without a problem. Even while traveling across the country. Thats why I got it after my original extended warranty was about to expire. Id get it again in a heart beat without hesitation. I used it for travels more then at home repairs unless its gonna be a major expense like my ecm replacement was along with front caliper while shop had my bike. My cost 92 bucks. total cost 1100 in repairs. Thank you Jim for awesome coverage.

Is there a discount for forum members? How long have you been in business? Thinking about a ESP but never really used the factory one and have bought 3 of them and inherited 2. Are aftermarket upgrades covered cams etc.?
Thanks

Thanks
> I've been selling Extended Service Plans online since 2006. I was able to partner directly with the ESP companies in 2019.

> We don't offer the "Mark it up to Mark it Down" promotions you will see else where. The pricing is the same for every rider at any time--with a few standing discounts.
  1. Active Military and Veterans receive a $100 discount on any ESP.
  2. Law Enforcement & First Responders get the same $100 discount.
  3. Prior Clients (Kutter H-D, Boardtracker H-D, Discount ESP, and Motorcycle Agent) get the same $100 discount.
  4. HD Forum Members get a $50 discount.
  5. If we quote your liability insurance (Licensed in 31 states currently) you can stack an extra $25 discount.
> The ONLY plan available that will cover after market / upgraded components is the Eagle Guardian Plan. Other plans may allow the components to be installed; however, if they cause the failure, the claim could be declined. Eagle Guardian's coverage will extend to properly installed Stage I-IV kits, Big Bore Kits, Tuners, Cams, ect.

> Not having to use your ESP is a good thing--you didn't miss a ride. When Harley-Davidsons break though, it is usually expensive. The administrators we use (AGWS & USCW) have been in business a long time. Yes there is more revenue than claims paid--that is the only way they can stay in business (Same as your insurance company). What I like though: their coverage is amazing, customer service is top notch, dealerships like using them, and they are approved and insured.

Let me know what questions you have and enjoy the ride! (Put a few miles on for me--it was 27 degrees in Wisconsin this morning)

I think of the ESP like this - if you put a lot of miles on your bike, it may make sense. I regard it as a fixed, known repair amount that I can budget for, over the period of the warranty.

I bought a new road king in 2009. Before the factory warranty ran out, I bought an esp from Jim Palmer due to recommendations of members on this forum. I extended the policy out every time it was nearing the expiration point and it was due to run out in December of 2021. The bike didn't need a lot of unexpected work, but the few times it did, the policy paid for itself. In August of this year, my bike had 106K miles, and even though it still ran great, the shop had already talked to me about pulling the engine and checking to see if it could validate a new head and/or engine, which the policy would pay for.

Unfortunately a deer decided that I didn't need to keep the bike any longer. Insurance totaled out the bike. Side note, I got refunded the money for the unused time on the esp. I have since bought a used bike, and one of the first things I did was to contact Jim Palmer about an esp. Jim has always been patient, helpful, and professional. I peppered him with lots of repetitive knuckle-headed questions and if he always took the time to respond in a courteous manner and to explain so that I understood the answer. Jim stuck with me through lots of questions and quotes as I considered a few different potential bike purchases, until I finally bought one.

If you are like me and expect to go more than 100K miles on a bike, give him a call. Policy costs me about $1.30 a day or less than 5 cents a mile. It pays for itself.

My bike has just over 40K miles on it and I'm coming off my Harley 5 year ESP in August. HD wanted $3,500 for another 5 year with a tire package. Ridiculous. I'm looking at the exact same coverage for $2195 thru Discount ESP.. For me its more than a few hundred bucks.
