Dawg -- confirmation of your suggestions to me a couple weeks back. I changed out the bars on my '05 Ultra -- and at the same time had the dealer change out the throttle, idle, and clutch cables. Total on those was $60. The brake cable was just fine, and a good thing too -- that one would be $130 to change out.

This will work for putting the bars in a comfortable position. Cheryl, the wife of the guy who designed these Khromewerks bars, said that he did so by closing his eyes while sitting on the bike, putting his hands out in front of him in the most comfortable position -- and that is where they put the handgrips for the bars. Now there is simple engineering!

Sweet! I just got around to putting the new throttle/idle cables on that I had sitting waiting. It is so much better with the +2 cables as there is no stickiness to the throttle now and it snaps back like it is supposed to. That is nifty engineering. I should be their spokesperson[8D]

I just installed the HD pullback bars on my '03 Ultra and didn't change any of the cables. I did have to re-route the clutch cable as it wasn't long enough to reach. There was plenty of slack for the throttle cables and I had to bend the brake line a little to gain enough slack but there's nothing I see that will cause any handling or other issues. At some point, I will change all the cables out as I want to upgrade to the braided ones, etc. but first I wanted to make sure I'll be happy with the bars before going to any additional expense.

It's not all that hard to do, the fairing has to be taken apart, radio pulled back, the ignition lock removed, etc. but nothing major to do. I did find both of the braces which mount to the speakers on each side were broken from stress and poor metal so I am in the process of replacing those with ones I made myself which WILL NOT break.

I haven't had the chance to ride it yet so the jury is out on the handling until the weekend.

BTW, I bought the bars from a member of this forum, Pappashelby, who shipped them fast when I sent the check. He went to a lot of expense to wrap them in plastic and put in a box with the plastic peanuts. Some might have just wrapped them in paper or cardboard and shipped that way. The bars look good with no scratches, dents, etc. So if anyone ever has a chance to buy something from him, he's a stand up guy, dependable!

I also put the HD pullbacks on a 2005 FLHTCI. When I leaned back into the rider back rest, I didn't want my arms quite as extended. Replaced the clutch cable. I got by with the stock throttle and brake cables.

I was wondering what type of handle bars you put on your RK Custom. I have an 07 RK Custom and want to change out my bars due the amount of pain in my wrist caused by them after a few hours of riding. I am looking for something that keeps my wrist in a more neutral position. Thanks for any information you can provide.

How tall are you, and how long are your arms? Approx. is fine. I am 5'8" and want to change my 08 RK bars to a stock RK Custom bar. They feel alot better to me than the stock RK Classic bars. But then again, I have not been on a 3 hour tour with them either.....

'o7 ultra here. tried h-d pullbacks - very uncomfortable, someone referred to them as 'wheel-barrow' bars - too parallel to bike frame. then went with kromewerks suggested on this site - much more comfortable. NOTE: did NOT have to replace any lines/cables. Did take the clutch cable out of fairing and had to gently re-configure the brake line.
