Default Rerouted head breathers NO OIL on bike finally

I routed them up to the top of frame and then down the front tubes and then under the engine. I then put them through the cross member under engine and twisty tied the all over so not to move!!! No oil after running 85to 95mph down a long stretch of highway today!! I must have the old style SE filter kit as my breathers were both seperate and alls I needed was 10 feet of 3/8 gas line 10.55$ and all is well!!! I went on a 250 mile jog today I canot believe how much better this sucker runs after the dyno tune!!! I Dynoed at 74.5 hpr and 85 torqe is this normal for a stock 01 electra glide efi with rinehart true dual and a SE air filter? My friends thing there might have been engine work done to it before I owned it but I dont think so. Thanks

I would be very curious if its building up in the hose because you stated you ran it up and then down??????????

You didn't fix anything. You either didn't get oil on your bike because it sprayed out on the ground, you had oil trapped in the lines plugging the air flow up, or you have a kink somewhere blocking the flow. If it is one of the latter two, expect an oil leak from a gasket in the future.

OK why? If you are getting blowby rerouting the hose out side the head will make ZERO diff on blowby.

There are many answers. I have no idea why but after 10K miles using amsoil, I no longer get blowby. I figure that something internal has broke fixing the blowby problem.

But if you want to never have oil on your leg, get a couple of 90 degree pipe fitting that fit, and run hoses tothe ground.

Thats is what I meant guys No oil on leg and all over side of the bike!! It still drips out the hose a little but not much. I just did this because i was tired of cleaning the right side all the time after lenghty highway runs! My wife will like it better also because she will not get it in the legs. I searched and found that the aftermarket rerouting stuff you can get does the same as I did with mine but i did it cheaper. This is only stopping the misting problem and stops the fiter from getting oily and having to clean that also. If I blow seals so be it they make new ones everyday!!! I always could use that as a excuse to upgrade!!!!!

instead of all that you might try one of the below kits.
These are at J&P but there other places you can get them as well.

In the second link (which I use), I tried different brands.Found the glue that holds filter to bracket would break loose. So added my own bracket around
the filter and bracket, cured it. Used a piece of flat stock polished aluminum.

Running hoses straight to the atmosphere as he did and you describe, is actually a violation of EPA emissions laws.
Older cars used to do that, we called them road draft tubes. They were discontinued and we started using the PCV (positive Crankcase Ventilation) system.
Which reroutes the blowby (natural combustion process by-product)
back into the intake system to be re burned.
HD in the Evo and newer motors put the PCV system in the head and rocker boxes. A mesh filter traps the blowby and a rubber umbrella seal regulates the flow out the ports in side of head behind A/C.
However, for various reasons (won't go into detail here) some bikes have more blowby than others. The excess mist is routed to A/C to be reburned.
But sometimes it is in excess and accumulates in the A/C and drips out,
then the air stream slipping by while you're riding deposits it along your pants and the bike.
HD does offer an upgraded pcv (umbrella and mesh filter system) on some bikes under a service bulletin.
Otherwise you can follow the links in my other post for acceptable exterior filter systems.
Does NOT matter what oil you use, you will have blowby, just maybe not as much.
If the umbrella seal breaks or whatever, you will get more not less blowby.

Aligning your oil pump will likely cure the blowby problem.

Been there done that aligning thing!! This will have to work until this winter until a totalrebuild or a new bike is in order!!I know what the PCV is but all that oil on the side of my bike gets washed into the sewer drain anyway!!! This way I dont have to wear the crap all day!!! By the way my to dogs in my avatar ate a dozen ears of corn between them!! You think that going to make a bigger mess then the oil all over the side of my bike[:'(][sm=badbadbad.gif]
