2017 Street Glide. I had my key fob more than 50ft. from my scoot, and it still started. On the interweb, I followed the instructions to reset the pin. Well, there was no pin stored. I called the original owner I bought it from and he said, hey I just found the other fob and key in my safe (he's a friend of a friend). He also said he never even knew there was a pin number so that's out.
So I put a pin in, and stored it. Then I ran the sequence again where you are supposed to put the pin in to start it with no fob, and it showed the pin without tapping the right turn signal to show the pin..
Most people have the opposite problem, they can't start their bikes because of the security system. Are you certain you want to reactivate a seemingly inactive security system?
I'm not much help here, but I lost my key fob. I had a pin setup, but instead, I had the dealer deactivate the alarm. I just use the fork lock now. Much happier.
Hi there. Circling back around to this. I went through transport mode, and it didn't fix it. I replaced the batteries in the fobs, had both of them in my house which is far from the garage, and the bike started. I have even went through and changed the security pin.
Yes I am sure that I want to. I keep my fob on me at all times anyway, I'd like to not have to lock the bike everywhere I go. The bike gets allot of attention. I've tried putting it into transport mode, changing the security pin, etc. Fobs have the batteries changed, and they were at least 100 ft. from the bike and it started.
The dealer can disable the "FOB present" requirement so it starts without one. The only way to know if yours was disabled would be to take a trip to the dealer.
When I shut mine down (2015 Ultra Limited w/HD alarm installed), I get the turn signal blink, an audible "beep" and a red blinking security light indicator in the speedo.
To the OP are you also seeing a red blinking security light indicator?......IF NOT perhaps your security system isn't really setting itself?? In my case, sometimes when I climb on and try to start up, it takes a few additional seconds for system to recognize the fob in my pocket, but that only happens occasionally.
