I had 2 Electra Glides before I traded for an '18 Road Glide. I like the Road Glide-lots of room and the handlebars are taller so it gives me a better seating position. Adjusting the handlebars on the RG is way easier than on the EG.
One thing that I dislike is the radio screen. Its angled in such a way that when the sun is behind you the glare from the screen can be very distracting. And a replacement headlight is around $600 if the LED goes bad.
Other than that they ride and drive pretty much the same in my opinion.
Hi all,
I bought a used 15 RGS in May of 17. I came off a Road King. It's the same frame and bike {SG & RG} but I believe the fixed fairing cuts the wind better. 57k later I love "Lucille" and don't really care what others think. It takes a short bit getting use to the fairing being fixed but you'll have to pry mine out of my cold dead hands before I give her up. Make it yours as you would with any bike and enjoy.....goldie
I know that my 2012 RGS fit thru my gate at the house a lot easier than the new does. I had to cut the gate posts down to allow for more clearance on the bars, even with the new ones and I never had to do that with my 12. Maybe because I have been on my Springer all summer it seems larger. I know compared to my CVO Springer Softail and the wife's Softail Standard the RGS looks huge.
this is from the dealer meeting prior to the release of the rushmore road glides.
So I have a 08 ultra classic and a 11 road glide. The road glide handles much better and easier to steer, not to say the batwing is bad but can definitively tell the road glide is easier. The RG feels planted to the road a little more especially when you get the cross wind. I think as far as wind and rain protection the batwing is way ahead in that department. To me my ultra feels like I am riding on top of the seat and my RG makes me feel like I am in a sports car bucket seat. The RG does feel like you have more room. IMO go ride them both and see which one you like better, to get the wind/rain protection on the RG you have to do away with the sporty short windshields and put the larger ones on it.
