Don't back down
Long story short I stayed on the dealer until they rectifiied the delivery issue, and they threw in a $100 gift card. The gift card was nothing to themreally but was a nice gesture for waisting my time. The tour pack issue has finally been resolved with a refund for the cost of the lock set which I purchased at a local dealer.
Here is the point though... Both places knew they were in the wrong and one would assume they would try to make it right immediately, but neither did. They figured if they blew smoke up my butt I'd eventually drop it, I won't. The online place actually sent me not one but TWO emails telling me that HD MOCO told them the kit I ordered didn't come with the lockset. This of course was a couple different lies. First off HD never told them that, and second they passed off the lie twice as being genuine. I simply cut and pasted their web ad and reference the HD parts catalog in an email reply and then told them I knew neither they or HD would purposely misrepresent a product they sold, lol.... I recieved my credit refund today.
So next time you get the run around, don't back down, press the issue if you are right. I think far to often we play down issues and as a result the service in the future stinks. I'm generally very polite and nice, but I sure don't like it when the dealers try to take advantage of my politeness (if thats a word, lol)... Its a simple case of they will do what we allow them to get away with, so don't....... T
Part #53194-07 - Chopped Tour Pack Lock Kit
I've bought detachable tour packs for 2 bikes now, and neither came with the locking hardware. I had to send in my key code to have a tumbler keyed to match my ignition key. Cost me about $20 total.
Got a part # for the tour pack you claim comes with the lock kit? Otherwise, you just assumed it was supposed to, and they gave you the schmooze job just to shut you up.
Squeaky wheel gets the grease, every time.
So yes they did think they were gonna schmooze me with their BS, and then they realized I wasn't going to back off until I recieved what I paid for.
ps... so you know I'm not blowing smoke, if you look at pages 428, 429, and 430you will see that the other tour packs all sell the lock set separate. This is not the case for the chopped pack. Knowledge is power...... T
You must be looking at a different catalog than I am, cuz 428, 429, & 430 in the 2008 catalog don't list tour packs or locks.
Maybe that's where the confusion came in for the dealer as well? Perhaps it use to be a sku'd part, but now it's only sold seperately?
Wonder if they sold it as a package back in 2000. Mighta saved me a couple-o-bucks. =)
