Default RE: Don't back down

Well I don't know what the 2008 catalog says, but I know what the website says from which I ordered, "The complete kit includes lock and two keys (Key matching service is available through you Harley-Davidson Dealer)." This is also what HD told me per my conversation with them.

Now, I am not suggesting to anyone that they go out and ask for something beyond what is reasonably expected, either on servicing or parts. What I am suggesting is if you are "right" press the test and don't take some BS excuse for poor service. For example I read a post where someone was told to go down the road to an autoparts store and purchase a tool to install a bolt they just purchased from the dealership. Wrong answer! I'd have been standing in the managers/owners office asking why they felt this was an appropriate response to a paying customer, and how soon they would be done installing said bolt. I'm sorry but 2 minutes to install a bolt or lending a tool for 2 minutes isn't setting anyone back. If they couldn't be bothered to do either, well they don't need my money and they would have refunded it all.

Here is an example of how it is suppose to work. I purchased a TomTom Rider GPS and just hardwired it in. Well the mount base won't power or charge the GPS, so I emailed TomTom to see if they could send me a new mount to replace the defective one. Just got the email and the part will be delivered to my door in 10-14 days. No BS, no send us the mount for repair, no asking if I did something wrong... Instead they apologized for the defect and are standing behind their product, sending out a replacement. Thats service!
My bike mechanic (local Indy) works the same way. He talked me into some Metz tires a year ago and the sidewall bond pointcracked at 2k miles (not a safety issue but looks like hell). No questions asked he took my bike in the back and brought it back out 30 minutes later with new Dunlops on, no charge. I know he ate the cost of those tires, but he also knows he'll more than make up for it in referals and business from me. Thats the way its suppose to work. JMO....... T

i'm not disagreeing with you. customer service is definitely a lost art.

the only thing that i am curious about is no one seems to be able to find anything that says 'locks included'.....

Page 426 of the 2007 catalog.

"The complete kit includes lock and two keys (Key matching service is available through your Harley Davidson Dealer)."

Chopped is the only one that includes the key.
