I agree with all of the above. I can also say that a few months ago I got air in my front brake lines when flushing, and I just bled normally and it was fine. The issue is that once there is air in the lines, do not turn the ignition on or it will test the ABS module and fail. So you must be 100% certain there are no bubbles before turning the ignition on. I also recommend pulling the maxi fuse before doing brake lines on an ABS bike so you don't accidently turn it on.
I am always careful to avoid turning on the ignition, until the flush/bleed is complete... but that is out of an abundance of caution... not out of necessity...
When the ignition is turned on, and the ABS is "tested", it is just an electronic communication check. It doesn't actually activate the valves in the ABS module... if it did, you wouldn't need to buy one of the ABS tools, you could just turn the ignition on & off, when you need to activate the ABS module during the bleed/flush... or anytime you wanted to exercise the ABS module...
I agree with everything already mentioned above. Anytime I bleed all masters, I always suck them dry with a cheap plastic syringe and wipe out with lint-free towels to get all the crap out of the bottom. Then I top off with fresh fluid and that way you aren't pulling any of that crud through the whole system. That's with or without ABS, either way I do it the same. I'm also a fan of the Mityvac brake bleeder .... makes one man brake bleeding a lot easier and they're cheap enough to buy and the kit usually comes with everything you would possibly need. Mine is just the cheap hand-pump vacuum job with a gauge on it and works awesome. Just be sure to keep the master full while using it and you'll never have to worry about getting any air in the system.
It's worth spending the $25 to buy the little tool from Hill Country Customs. Or just buy the tubing and syringe and make one yourself. It's incredibly useful
I recently purchased the Twin Scan 4 tool... I like being able to do more, without the need to go to a dealer..
i noticed that the website says this: ˇ SPEEDOMETER: Calibrate speedometer*, remove new speedometer display of VinErr. does that mean that you can take a used speedometer that has been married to a previous ecm and clear that and then use it on another bike?

You quoted me, so if you are asking me, I have no idea.... yet...
I just got it, and have not "learned" all that it can do... I'm just learning activating the ABS and adding a key fob at the moment...
I haven't looked through the rest yet...
I intend to investigate the ability to keep the passing lights on with the high beams, and am interested if I could use it to add a new GTS radio in lieu of my 6.5, without needing the dealer flash...
I am still in the very early learning stages of this tool... But I love a tool that has more options available, than I know how to use...
it'd be interesting to find out... you could make a decent little bit of side income if you were able to 'unlock' used speedos for people
Could probably get myself arrested too....
That is the reason that any speedo modification that affects the mileage reading, isn't usually allowed at the dealer level, just the Manufacturer level... on most vehicles... I suspect for that reason, the Twin Scan 4 won't be able to do it... at least for speedos that store the mileage for the vehicle...
no, not talking about the mileage reading. i'm talking about the 'vinerr' code that you get when you try to plug a speedo that has already been married into another bike. it isn't illegal to replace a speedo, regardless of the mileage reading. only illegal if you try to represent that as the 'true' mileage.

You can download the manual from their web site. But it won't answer your question. There is a section on Speedometer calibration and pairing, it discusses calibration but says nothing about how to pair or what pairing does.
From the web site it sounds like you can pair any speedometer to the bike, but can't change the mileage on that speedometer.
