Hello all, I have a 2001 ultra fuel injected and I was wondering if anyone could snap a picture of the spark plug wire routing. I bought a used bike and found the wires to be laying on the engine and even some melting. The service manual doesn’t show correct routing.
Thanks!
Use cable ties to keep the plug wire off the engine by wrapping the cable tie and plug wires to the backbone of the frame. You may want to also replace the old spark plug wire.
Looks like you may be missing some clips that hold the wires off the engine . Check the back bone for small holes were the clips would fit . Here are the parts I'm talking about , hope this helps .
On the rear cylinder it looks like you already have the plug wire clip, but something else is in it.
I have a carb bike so don't have the cable/pipe...
Get the cable clips from the parts fiche though, problem solved. They still don't hold that well, you have to route a little, but better than nothing.
Run over the top of that cable instead of below it and it would relieve some of that issue. I have a friend with a 2002, I’ll see if you can grab a pic.
