My new ones are bolted on have hidden hinges and no latches. The only way to get into them are with a key fob, but I do worry more an more about my bike and wonder if I will take it to any large gatherings any more.

The stealing of hard bags has been discussed before. Scared me enough to do this... I ran a button head allen bolt through the bag and have a nylock nut on it inside plus a different size head acorn nut on top of that. If you attempt to turn from outside, it will just spin. The bracket that attaches to the bike also has a button head allen bolt installed with loctite red. You can get my bags if you want... it will take ya a while though IF you even have the right tools. Screwdriver wont cut it in my case.

This is no different than a thief stealing parts off a car, not all that common but it does happen. My defense was to up my insurance policy to actual replacement value of the bike, only ran $200 more a year to insure an extra $15k in parts and accessories. I am gonna just ride it and hope for the best, but if the bike, or any parts disappear, it is covered.

You crack me up if I really wanted to take anybodys bags I would just use a craftsman ratcheting open end wrench, bags and brackets gone in two minutes or less. Try not to worry about it to much, If they really want them they'll get them.

After reading all of this, I would be reluctant to walk to my motel roomacross a biker rally with my bike's bags under my arms.
