Default baggers beware!!

True or rumor?? I have heard from time to time that "bad boys" go around bike events, as well as other places and check the side saddle bags to see if they are unlocked! If they are, they twist the two pins and off they go!! Keep the side saddle bags locked when your not near your scoot!! If they show up missing, you might find them posted on Ebay--cheap!! KEEP THE BAGS LOCKED!!
ride safe, ride free!!!

It's true. Several horror stories on this forum and others confirming it. I was approached by a guy in Yellowstone last year on my way to Sturgis. He told me his were stolen last year in Reno while he was at Street Vibes. Doesn't matter if they are locked or not, a long straight blade screwdriver is all it takes.

Search this forum for a few cheap ways to secure the bags with a carriage bolt and nut.

Mine are always locked, even when there is nothing in them.

Locked is fine, but it means nothing to a thief!

After I first read about this phemomenon (sp?) a week ago, or so, I looked closely at what it would take to get one off w/o opening the lid.... and it's about 20~30 seconds per bag and I didn;t even practice! If ya really care, you might wanna consider fashioning some sort of shroud over the back side to the dzus fastener or simply replace the dzus setup w/ a bobly & locknut.

Are you guys kidding me????

To take a side bag off all you have to do is slip a screwdriver onto the bar lock on the back of the retaining pin, spin it, and the pins fall out, and the whole side luggage is yours.

The top luggage is better, but the bolts on thehold downsare so small that a flathead will pop them off in a second. The lock pin is only a screwdriver smash away from punching in.

Lesson, don't store anything you want in a bike....or a car for that matter.

Doesn't look to hard to remove the stock quick pins, and replace them with some bolts/washers/nyloc nuts.

But as with anything...................if someone wants something bad enough, they will get it no matter what you do(except for my .45 ACP).

I remeber times when working on bikes at the dealership somebody would drop off the bike to be worked on, usually something like dyno tuning this would happen, not leave the keys and locked the bags. Having to remove the bags to get to the ECM off the bags came in very few seconds. Now if that scares ya you should see how easy they are to start without keys
