Does any one out there know why Harley has not made an extended braided clutch cable for the 07 Touring models? The Catalog for the 08's just came out and there is a large selection for them. I had my bars changed and was told by my dealer they would put the longer cable on when it became available but now they are just srugging there shoulders. I am somewhat pissed the 07's are starting to look like an oddball model. Any one have any ideas?
I used Magnum Shielding and they can give you about any length you want. And they deliver fast. Here is their website. http://www.magnumshielding.com/. Check them out.
The "A" length is .01 of an inch longer on a 07, and the "B" length is .01 of an inch shorter. This means that your clutch adjustment on the cable ends up being .01 of an inch lower than it was on a 06. That's virtually undetectable to human eye. The two cables are exactly the same length overall so you should be able to use a 06 cable cable that is +6 inches as long as they didn't change the ends on the cable. The HD website says they bothuse the same clutch levers so if there is any difference at all, it's where the cable goes into the side cover of the transmission. The "easy clutch" kit HD sells says it is standard on all 06 up bikes so theconnector in the transshould also be the same as 06. I seriously doubt there is enough difference in the cable to matter, but I haven't been brave enough to pull theside cover off my 07 yet to check. I'm thinking about just orderingsome Motion Pro cables from Jireh for a 2000+ that's the right length to put on my SG when I do chrome controls on it later this month. Their braided cables are very, verynice quality and cost about 50-60% less than the HD cables. Again, this is all my speculation but I really don't think there much difference in the 06 and 07 cables, if any at all, besides the part number.
