I have a cheap induction tach for checking my idle after a carb rebuild, but I am not sure if I have to wrap the induction wire round the coil input wires or can get away with wrapping round the spark plug?
Did a little search but nothing on hooking one up...
Haven't tried the coil yet as the input wires are tucked out of the way on the Road King...
I have no experience with your question but maybe just try it? If you don't get a signal then you'll know? Surprised nobody else has any input, somebody must have experience with this issue. Sometimes it takes a while

What's the instructions for the tach say? If you don't have the instructions do a search for instructions for the unit you have.
