Never bought a Harley yet that the stock seat was any good. One of the very first mods I make , right after sh-- canning the heel - toe shifter ,LOL !! [sm=icon_quiet.gif]
I have a new 08 Ultra. I just did 1200 miles in 4 days and the seat is staying put. I can't imagine anything more comfortable that would be worth spending the $$$ for. Yeah, I'm tired & got a little antsy the last miles on each day.
My past ride was a 03 RKC that I put the Sundowner on and didn't really care for it. It was better for my wife though, so it stayed on.

hmmm,, must be your first Harley, you will grow to expect more comfort as time goes by than when riding a foreign bike you will pay for it though... I am sure the air zepplin seat will be out in a few months, then you will know what comfortable is, I have 7,000. miles on my 2008 Ultra, waiting for the good factory upgrade seats to come out, I do rides that are 3-5 hundred miles a day, I think the factory seat is a little better than an 07, not much though.... will replace as soon as an air seat is available....other than that, I love the bike..
I have an 08 RG, seat is a pure torture device! The previous RG seats were arguably Harley's most comfortable stock seats ever. I have done many 600mile+ days on my 01 RG with stock seat and no complaint whatsoever about the stock seat. 50 miles on the 08 and I'm crying in pain! Great bike, crappy seat! All the 08 Touring seats suffer from the same problems, raised height and less padding not to mention the padding used is so damn cheap at collapses completly very easily. needless to say. before spring gets here my seat will be completly redone. Big issue is that they moved the ECM under the seat panso the seat has to be raised to clear the ECM. That combined with the new 6 gallon tank cause the new seats to be much smaller than the old ones and that's some of it....
The Seat is comfortable... But after a ride from Sacramento to Reno, I did feel some back ache.....
THis xmas I received an adjustable back rest along with my heated hand grips ---did a 60 mile ride today, and back feels good..... Cant wait for the summer to do reno again
