Since I live in the snow belt, my scoot gets stored during the ice/road salt period each year. I use Sta-Bil for the storage period with a full fuel tank. Empty space in the tank will allow condensation to develop. The Sta-Bil not only preserves the fuel but also cleans the injectors as that tank is burned. It seems to do a good job on this once a year basis.

Techron is great stuff, and I used it in my air-cooled Porsche, but it was weaker than the BG44K stuff my mechanic recommended to me. After the BG44K, the car ran smooth as silk. This stuff is perfectly fine for fuel injection systems on most cars, but don't put it in any carburetted engine - it might eat the floats in the carburettor.

Of course, since hardly anyone on this forums uses BG44K on the HD, then there is no proven track record for it, and so might not be proven safe.

I have used Seafoam in my vehicles. I likeitespecially before winter with the stabilizer if the fuel will be there for more than a month or two. Usually sits all winter in the Lawn tractor, leaf blower and weed eater with no starting problems come spring time.

doesn't most premium gas have injector cleaner in it already? If so, why add more?

I've never heard this before, but would have to say that they do not have the equivalent of a concentrated bottle of cleaner. At least not the gasbrands that I have locally.
I know different brands have different levels of detergent, but I am not sure how much faith to really put in that.

Pretty sure any gas will varnish over time, between that and inherent contamination, a bottle of concentrated cleaner once and a while is a good bet.
Additionally, many of the cleaners also have fuel system lube in them. For my diesel this is pretty important now that the sulfer has been lowered.
It works to keep the orings and other internals in shape.

So, maybe premium does have it, but just not in the concentration equivalent to a bottle of cleaner.

Yes, most premium gasoline already has the requisit additives present in the gasoline. But if you use the middle octane gas, you are only getting 50% of those additives (because the middle gas is really a 50/50 mix of low-end and high-end gas). So if you always use the premium gas, then you probably don't need to put in any additives.

The Techron stuff in the bottle is actually a concentrated mix of what Chevron/Techron puts in their premium gas.

If you still really need to clean the injectors, then you will have to try something stronger than the additives, which is why I brought up BG44K.

Don't use cheap gas. All gas is not the same. I only use Chevron Supreme. I'm not going to save a couple of dimes per tank and put the lowest bidder, cut-rate, supermarket gas in my ride!

so if you are using 91 or higher octane you will be OK? But adding an additive is additional insurance?
