My '07 Road King with 13k miles is running a little rough from time to time with excessive engine vibration at a particular range of rpm's. I've checked everything I can think of and technically the bike should be running fine. It doesn't happen all the time, and at one time I thought it was probably a tank or two of poor grade fuel. But it's happening too often for it to be that - it will sometimes run fine and the next time I ride it will be rough again.
Would you expect that the injectors could be the problem? I suppose I will run some injector cleaner and see if that clears it up.
Yes the new injectors are Laser cut. The multiple nozzle holes will clog easy. I have found it necessary to treat my BMW (Bosch injectors are prone to clogging) about every 10 to 12 K.
Use the Chevron with techron cleaner.
You can find it at local parts suppliers. Use as recommended and your idle problems will clear-up within 50 miles of operation.
Techron Fuel System cleaner is about the only cleaner that most vehicle manufacturers recommend. I will split a 12oz bottle over 3 tankfills and do this maybe twice a riding season.
Would an injector cleaner affect a O2 sensor? I know it doesn't in a auto, but just curious if there's any difference between that and the wideband sensors I'm using with my T-Max. Seems I remember reading in the instructions that addiives could cause problems ...
Can't see why, o2 sensors are o2 sensors. They are the same in cars as they are in bikes. If it does make any difference, it would only be for the tankfull the additive is in. Once it's gone, the fuel system, and o2 sensor, will be cleaner but the additive is gone
