Default Ape mount or fairing mount mirrors?

I have 14” apes on my street glide and was thinking about getting rid of the mirrors and going with fairing mount. Or maybe keep both. Do you prefer the fairing mount or ape mount mirrors? Do your arms get in the way to see the fairing mount ones? Im just not a feelin the empty spot on my fairing where the mirror should be. Should I do both? Lol Ive seen them like mine, fairing mounted, and some with both. How do you like yours?

I have 18s on my 16 SGS and have the fairing mounted mirrors. IMHO mirrors that are upright on bars look like god damn bunny ears and it drives me insane so I always flip them and have them under the bars which would look a tad ridiculous on a fairing bike. I'll take a picture of mine when I pick it up from Harley tomorrow.

To each their own on that upside down mirrors on a fairing bike. Mine is an '08 FLHT with 14 in. bars. I used extensions to move the mirrors out about 2 inches, and down one in., on the underside of the bars, and I think it looks just fine like that. I do agree with the bunny ears thing, though, and that's why the under bar thing. I have good rearward visibility now, and NO bunny ears sticking up.

I got rid off the fairing mirrors completely on my cvo sg and it looks a 100% better. I use black short stem mirrors on black 14 yaffe bars and they look fine and work a hell of a lot better for me. Your height will determine whether the bars instruct your fairing mirrors. At 6’2”, mine were basically useless.

Have you looked to see if you can even see the fairing mounted mirrors around your 14' bars? I have 12' bars on my SGS and can't see the fairing mounted mirrors, so I had to remove them. But I would prefer them, if i had the option.

Like others have said, I think mirrors sticking up off the top of apes looks stupid, so I flipped mine. I do have to lift my elbows to see behind me and would prefer that I have a clearer view, but maybe you won't have that issue with 14" bars, as yours are 2" taller than mine. And maybe 3", because I don't think mine are quite as tall as other 12" bar setups that I've seen. Give yours a flip and see if you like the look and can see what's behind you.

Ill try that today and see how they look. If i have to lift my arm to see them then I might as well get the fairing mounts. Right? Lol
I havent really tested out if I could see them or not if I decided to change them. I was just in the house and thoight I would ask what everyone else has and thinks of the idea. Ill tinker around with it today and get some pictures
Thanks everyone with your input

Not really. At 12", the fairing mounts are not an option for me; the grip (and my hand) is dead in the center of the mirror. I'm hoping at 14", you can see the mirrors on the fairing. If not, flipping them may be your only option other than those martian antennas.

I put 12” bars on my SG (which I’m now switching to 10”) and then measured 3” below the current holes for the fairing mirror mounts from KST to see if I’d have a clear view of the OEM mirrors. I’m tall so the grips would still partially obstruct my view of the mirrors, so I ordered short neck HD mirrors instead and mounted underneath the grips.
