Default to short for road glide??

have 07 rkc ...evey time i go to dealer the road glide seems to be calling me...when i sit on it i can not see over the windsheild...being 5"7 my dealer keeps telling me i will get use to full fairing. been doing so much slab riding i like all the ideas of rg but.... any smaller riders have one? love my classic but i think the rg will be better on the highway where i spend so much time. anybody switch from rk to rg that are height challenged?? this is just to cure my thoughts before i drive myself crazy .saftey is 100% to me. i realize confidence plays a key role, bur it seems scary not being able to see as i can on my rk ...thanks tommy

You'll be fine. Shorter windshields, lowering kits work wonders. Jump in, the water is fine.

Rent one. Take it out for a day. You will know if it is right for you. If you decide to buy the RG ask the dealer if he will apply the rental cost to the new bike.

I hope you dont mean you cant see over the fairing. I am 5'8, i cant see over the stock ultra windshield. I am looking through it. As long as you are able to see over the fairing, whats the problem.

Have to agree with a.boogeyman about about the lowering kits. I only have a 29" inseam and have been fine on my 2007 RG using a 1" drop front and rear. You may also find a low profile seat helpful.

I don't own a Road Glide, but I do drive a Street Glide. I have a 29" inseam and I have NO problems. You can do it if I can.

I'm 5' 7" on a good day. I switched from a RKC to the RG in May. I put on the HD 9" shield and look right over the top of it. It still gets a pretty good wind blast so I have orderd a Clearview sport shield with recurve. Hoping to get it before I die, but that's another thread.

I did lower the front 1", but that was more to compensate for the 21" wheel. I will be lowering the rear 1" so I can flat foot it. I have a Corbin classic solo that also lowers me a little over the stock seat.

The fairing, cruise control, and stereo can't be beat on the slab.

Like boogeyman said, jump in.....

I am 5/6" and ride a stock RG - first had a EG for two years then switched to a RG - I live in CA and very close to Corbin.... I did a ride in app and they built a custom seat for ME and my short legs... arrived at 8am - by 2pm seat was finished and I rode out with a great seat - Plus I wear Red Wing full lug boots - this gives me almost 2 inches compared to bare feet.. Boots may not be that big a deal to most folks, but to us shortie's it can make all the difference... I also lowerd my bike - front and back but did not like the ride (two up) so, I went back to stock... so far 3.5 years on the big bike and I do just fine...

Forgot to add - I have tried both Wild1 513 (baby apes) and the 517's... Actually, I really liked the 513's but the seat was just a tad to far back so I stayed with the 517's... You see, my bike was born a EG then last Nov (06) I bought all the parts and changed it to a RG.. So, if you are in the Turlock, CA area... Stop by and take it around the block.. I promise you, you will go and buy one.... Great bike...

The RG is more accomodating than the UG...you can get lowering kits or shocks, extended bars, forward positioning seats, lower windshields and so on. For someone my size, you can't add room to the UG.

You'll love it...

I'm 5'5 and ride the ultra classic stock. Maybe not completely Flat footed, but I agree with the statement from my fellow rider, boot heels a little taller makes all the difference. Plus it is alot cheaper than seats and lower suspensions. Cut the windsield down if you don't like looking through it. Trust me the more you ride it, the more comfortable you will become. If thats the bike your gut tells you to buy, get it. Don't regret your decision later and settle for something else!!!
