I have an 07 Streetglide and I would like to install a mechanical primary chain adjuster like a Hayden M6 or a Baker Attitude Adjuster. I know that my primary cover does not have the inspection window...
Can I swap it with an 06 outer primary? I do not want to have to pull the primary cover when I need a chain adjustment. I realize I would have to also get the inspection cover and new derby cover... any thoughts??
Interesting question.... originally I would have said "no way" they would be interchangeable...
But checking parts numbers... an '05 electra glide inner primary is part #60432-01 with gasket #34901-94C and an '07 Electra glide inner primary is part #60432-07A with gasket #34901-07..
They have the same part number, but with a different suffix... while encouraging, that different suffix could mean several insignificant things, or that they aren't interchangeable... You'd have to actually have an older one to see if it would bolt up.. but I have my doubts
I had a Hayden in my 2012 Limited... it's really not hard to drop the outer cover at service time to check... you'd be changing the fluid anyways, and if you're careful, I have reused the outer primary cover gasket up to 4 times, without leaks...
NOTE- I see Max posted while I was typing.. I would go with his assessment.. I didn't know for sure and was just pondering the possibility based on the part numbers

If the number on the suffix is different there is pretty much no chance part will interchange. If it's only the letter, it's a pretty good chance it will fit tho HD did manage a minor screw up on early TC camplates. I have both 5 speed and 6 speed bagger primary gaskets and they are different.
