I've only had this bike about 3 months. Needed a lot of little things done to bring it back. Nothing major.
It had been about 30 years since my last bike so please be patient with me.
The bike is a 2002 Electra Glide Classic.
The bike is extremely loud especially when pulling a hill in 5th gear. I had the right muffler off when replacing the rear tire and noticed that I could see straight through it. I did notice that it had Harley Davidson numbers on it but didn't write down the other info, so I assume they are stock. Is that right that there appears to be no baffles in it except around the outside, looks like a 1 1/2" or so pipe straight through.
Is that normal or has someone gutted the muffler. Right now I need earplugs to ride comfortably.
Not normal from the factory but common to find someone drilled or cut out the baffles. Good news is there are lots of used stock mufflers at very reasonable prices to come get them for free. Check all the normal places Facebook market place, this forum, Craigslist etc.
someone drilled the baffle at the end, no doubt in my mind.
Ask your local Indy if he has a set of take offs, or of he can save you a set next time around... although most shops just toss them in the scrap metal pile as they have no resale value.
