Default oil drip

2013 ultra limited, stage 2, cams and air / exhaust. Went for a ride today and started smelling something new. Stopped for a break and noticed a spot of oil on the engine cover below the air intake. I ran my hand around the backside bottom of the intake cover and got oil. Not a lot, but enough to concern me. I'd appreciate any ideas from one and all. I have not yet removed the cover to look around. I will get to that. So, thoughts???

Breather oil from the breather hose running into the air filter in the air filter housing. Do a search on here and there are many solutions to the problem. Take the cover off and it will be obvious what the problem is.
I just put a T in the hose's and ran the other hose to the ground. Problem solved !

As they say, they all do that. Maybe not all, but many do. There are different ways of fixing the problem, many on this forum will explain how. It will not hurt the motor, but will make a mess of the right side of your bike.

Routing the the breather outside the intake is something that should be done to avoid hot oil form entering the combustion chamber, and gumming the throttle plate and IAC valve, not to mention all the carbon on the piston tops. As mention previously, there is a lot of discussion on the forums about this topic, but how it is accomplished varies by individual as well as the type and brand of air cleaner you are running. But, I still run the oil about 2-3 hashes below the full mark on the stick, and that does seem to help.

Wonder if the breathers were replaced when the motor upgrades were done? Just one possibility...oil level too high. Like these other guys said, its time to run an external breather. You can make your own with some hose, a small filter or catch can and a couple hose clamps. Theres also dk customs...they have kits with all the pieces all in package ready to go, just depends on your level of mechanical abilities.

Seems to be a relatively common thing. My 2010 Ultra did it. As the fellow above posted lots of threads on the subject. If you get a lot of oil blow by (like it makes puddles) I would be getting concerned. I had a lot and I ended up with an engine rebuild due to a scissored crank. I saw a youtube vid somewhere that said a bad crank will exacerbate the problem. (check for metal bits in the oil when you change it, mine had lots of bronze in it from the crank thrust washer) My rebuilt motor runs very clean now with no more drips.

Common issue, not really a big deal other than being messy. Easy fix. https://www.dkcustomproducts.com/pre...dis-brt-tc.htm
Sorry, link is for M8 bikes, but they also have kits for twin cams.https://www.dkcustomproducts.com/bre...ms-c21-221.htm

My thought is, remove the cover and look around, put a little effort into solving your problem.

Thanks everyone, and yes, I will make the effort to look around myself, but there is a lot of experience here and I'd be foolish to start poking around uninformed. Thanks again to one and all.
