Just curious... Why not just fly there and then ride it home?
I debated that back and forth. A whole lot went into my decisions, including that logistic, but there were a few points which solidified the decision:

1 - uncertainty how I would hold up for an iron butt ride home; I have some back issues, and even with the Mustang couch on my FatBoy it was a challenge for the wife and I to cover more than 250 miles at a stretch (riding with friends to Reno, for instance).

2 - timing with communications with the seller and final confirmation - I wasn’t able to nail down the final details and availability until last Sunday, and the seller was leaving for two months starting today so the window and planning time was too short to book a reasonable flight.

3 - neighbor had a trailer and was willing (actually eager) to go.

TMI, I know

After getting home, celebrating with friends last night, and getting a good 12 hours sleep, I can now state that it was one of the best decisions I have ever made, all the way around. I’m pretty sure I could have nearly ridden the bike home straight through... I never wanted to get off it, but had to give up the saddle to let my friend ride a segment, and then we put it on the trailer for the overnight section. In the morning I said screw it, can’t stand it any more, and pulled it off the trailer and rode it home.

The bike far exceeded my expectations, and I can finally understand how this is one of, if not The, best long range touring bikes in the world.

When I met the seller, first thing he asked me was “what are you planning to do?” - I replied “ride the hell out of it!”, and that’s the plan!!!

For others in the same situation, I often rent a Uhaul trailer near the seller so I don't have to haul an empty trailer. Uhaul has a very nice motorcycle trailer and depending on the distance, you will recoup a lot of the rental cost from the gas savings of not pulling the empty trailer.

Funny... don’t know whether I ever knew that and forgot, or just never knew, but I don’t ever recall seeing one and wasn’t aware that was an option. Great tip, and had I known this beforehand I probably would have done so.

Thanks - I hadn’t had a chance to see one in person, but I’ve seen countless thousands of photos online in the past months and knew it would be beautiful. The CVO treatments are always (usually?) awesome, and when I finally got to see it in person I was not disappointed.

Coincidentally, Corvette introduced a new color for the C8 for model year 2022 which is named Caffeine... it looks to be a close match, and since we plan to order one next year that decision is made.

Or is it the cam angle...like holding out a fish you just caught.
Hehehe... may be the angle my neighbor shot the pic from or the wide angle lens option on his phone. I’m 6’2”.

I didn’t get a good look at the pic I was selecting to post when I composed it, as it was done on my phone while sitting in the hotel in Conroe.

And for the record, I never hold out fish to make them appear larger in photos, as far as you know!

Now comes the labor of love - cleaning that baby up after her 1500+ mile ordeal. She’s a dirty girl, and while I like ‘em a little dirty, I also like ‘em to be squeaky clean

The wife is going to get her first short ride as a passenger today, and we’re going to ride with some friends tomorrow also. That will be nice punctuation to this saga.

Thanks to everyone for your interest and comments - take care, ride safely, and keep the shiny side up and the rubber side down!!!

Don't title it in California until you get past the magic 7500 mile rule. I don't think anyone will give you grief for riding the Texas plates a bit. Nice bike, enjoy

OP, don't you just love it when a plan comes together? Congrats on the new ride.
