I have a 2012 CVO ultra classic. It has the stock HD air shocks. I find them not very good and hit pretty hard no matter what pressure i use. They do hold pressure so no leaks.
I am heading to Sturgis this year and was going to have a new rear set up installed out there. I see this company Taildraggers air suspension kit (xocticcustoms.com) is set up at black hills.
They have a pretty reasonable set up (under 1k) and also have a adjustable onboard compressor set up. They say they have 5 inches of travel compared to the HD stock of 3 inches. Anyone have this setup on there bike and how well do you like it. thanks for any responses Jeff
Hello hdman6:
2011 CVO Ultra Classic for me.
Just replaced my air shocks last month with Progressive 944 shocks. Cost $636.00 to the door.
Standard springs, I weigh 170 lbs. I have made adjustments after each four rides and have the shocks dialed in really close to cant get no better . Oh what a smooth ride now. Railroad tracks, bring them on. Tar snakes, what tar snakes with bumps. Occasional pot hole, my old air shocks would drive your hemroids (sp) back up.🤣🤣🤣
There really is no comparison to the old air shocks.
I am not a big fan of air shocks, but thats just me.
With the 13 standard height shocks for our bikes you will notice the bike sits a little lower to the ground with the 944 Progressive shocks.
Research Progressive shock web site and it explains how the lower height is accomplished.
So many excellent shocks on the market. Ohlins, Pro Action, just to name a few.
I did a lot of research because my price range was around $500.00.
A lot of our forum members have excellent opinions on all brands of shocks. Research the forum for a lot of great knowledge.
Keep us posted on how you improved your ride.
If those air shocks give five inches of travel seems like the ride would be higher. Just a brain fart,🤯
